Many animals die by swallowing plastic bags or pieces of glass. Many small or big animals such as squirrels, rats, dogs, stray cows, goats and even birds die because of eating plastic garbage. Sometimes they put their heads in the plastic bags and get stuck and the poor, dumb creatures die due to suffocation. For example, plastic bags thrown into the water are dangerous for fish, sea animals and water birds. A transparent plastic bag filled with water looks like a jelly fish which is a favourite food of sea turtle that had swallowed fifty plastic bags. Fortunately, it was also saved.
Plastic or any other such waste causes great harm to environment. For example, plastic waste does not allow even the soil to breathe. It causes pollution of soil, water and air.
We pollute our environment by throwing different kinds of waste carelessly.

Piyush was the only child of the Panwars. Unfortunately, his left leg was affected by polio. The Panwars tried everything they could for the treatment of their son. However, Piyush never felt this as a drawback. When Piyush turned six, Mr. Panwar decided to send him to school. Mrs. Panwar was very worried at her husband's decision. She asked her husband how her son would manage to go and carry on with various school activities. After a short decision, the couple decided to talk to the school authorities first. Next day, they reached the school and met the school headmaster. Mr. Panwar told him that his son Piyush has mobility problem. Mrs. Panwar asked the Headmaster how her son would manage to get mixed up with other students? She also inquired of him about her son’s emotional adjustments in the school. The Headmaster showed keen interest and provided detailed information to Piyush’s parents about the provisions made by the government for the children with special needs (CWSN).

Passage 1:

She came closer to me and said, “We don’t need any land in the village; what shall we do with it?”

The old man was very tired, dusty, and wore steel-rimmed spectacles. He stayed behind because he was too exhausted to walk further and was worried about his animals—a cat, two goats, and pigeons—that he had left behind.

Option 1: Why did Ramlal send Bholi to school? — [Bholi]
Ramlal sent Bholi to school because the Tehsildar had come to their village and ordered that all children must be sent to school. Ramlal was afraid of being fined or punished, so he reluctantly sent Bholi, who was considered simple and unfit for marriage.
Option 2: Who was Mr. Jaffers, and why did he come to Mrs. Hall’s inn? — [Footprints Without Feet]
Mr. Jaffers was the village constable. He came to Mrs. Hall’s inn to arrest the invisible man, Griffin, after complaints about strange happenings and thefts. He tried to capture Griffin but was overpowered.

Option 1: What question does Think-Tank ask the mirror and what is the answer? — [The Book that Saved The Earth]
Think-Tank asks the mirror, “Mirror, mirror, who is the most intelligent and powerful being in the universe?” The mirror replies that Think-Tank is the most intelligent and powerful, but then adds that the Earthlings might be a threat because they have books, which Think-Tank misunderstands as a form of communication.
Option 2: Why did Think-Tank’s plan fail to invade the earth? — [The Book that Saved The Earth]
Think-Tank’s plan failed because his crew misinterpreted nursery rhymes from a book as a secret code. They thought Earthlings were preparing to attack with powerful weapons like “silver bullets” and “tarts,” which frightened them. Think-Tank panicked and ordered a retreat, saving Earth from invasion.

25. Explain any one of the following stanzas with reference to the context : 5
Stanza 1:
The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing,
is nothing, and becomes nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but
they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.
Explanation with reference to the context:
This stanza is from the poem "The Risk of Living" (or a similar motivational poem). The poet emphasizes that taking risks is essential for a meaningful life. A person who never takes risks may avoid pain and sorrow, but in doing so, they miss out on the most important experiences of life—learning, feeling, changing, growing, loving, and truly living. The context is about the value of courage and the dangers of a life lived in fear. The poet urges readers to embrace challenges because only through risk can one achieve growth and fulfillment.
Stanza 2:
"Let them go," I exclaimed: "I've a friend at my side,
To lift me, and aid me, whatever betide.
To trust to the world is to build on the sand:

Explanation with reference to the context:
This stanza is from the poem "The Right Hand" or a similar poem about self-reliance and faith. Option (a): Forests are ‘green gold’
Forests are rightly called ‘green gold’ because they are invaluable natural resources. They provide us with oxygen, timber, medicine, and habitat for wildlife. Forests help in maintaining the ecological balance by absorbing carbon dioxide and preventing soil erosion. They also bring rainfall and regulate the climate. Economically, forests provide livelihood to millions of people. Protecting forests is essential for our survival and for future generations. We must conserve this precious ‘green gold’ for a sustainable planet.
Option (b): My daily routine
I wake up early in the morning at 5 o'clock. After brushing my teeth, I go for a morning walk. Then I study for an hour. I have breakfast at 7:30 and get ready for school. My school starts at 8:30 and ends at 2:30. After returning home, I have lunch and rest for a while. In the evening, I play with my friends. Then I do my homework and study. I have dinner at 8:30 and go to bed at 9:30. This is my daily routine.
Option (c): The Computer
The computer is a wonderful invention of modern science. It is an electronic device that can store, process, and retrieve data very quickly. Computers are used in offices, schools, hospitals, banks, and homes. They help us in learning, communication, entertainment, and business. With the internet, computers connect people all over the world. They have made our work easier and faster. However, we should use computers wisely and not waste time on unnecessary things. The computer is truly a great gift of technology.
